MidOpt filters help Bionic Butterflies take flight in an application created by Festo. BN850 Near-Infrared Bandpass Filters were part of a 10 infrared camera system installed in an indoor space to record butterflies tracked using 850nm Infrared LED’s. The BN850 filter helped provide reliability and stability by blocking unwanted ambient light while only passing the signal from the 850nm IR LED’s to the cameras. Equipped with BN850 Filters, the cameras accurately transmit position data to a central master computer, which acts like an air traffic controller and coordinates the flights of the individual butterflies.
