When light passes through a surface, a small amount of light is reflected. This results in a 4% transmission loss per surface (total of 8% loss). MidOpt® uses a anti-reflection coating on all filters, reducing the surface reflection to less than 1%. This improves overall efficiency of the vision system by increasing the transmission.
