MidOpt® chemical strengthening is also referred to as safety glass. It is designed to be used in industrial imaging applications that require a high degree of resistance to breakage and shattering. In addition, this chemical strengthening also helps to limit the cracks in the breakage pattern, helping to preserve image integrity if the glass endures enough force to cause damage.
MidOpt® chemically-strengthened glass is produced through a potassium nitrate ion exchange that takes place in a salt bath. This process produces a glass that is up to 6X more resistant to cracks and breakage than un-strengthened glass.
MidOpt® can chemically strengthen many different types of glass, including soda lime and a variety of High Ion Exchange (HIE) glasses. Chemically strengthened glass can also be anti-reflection coated.
